Reporting to the Head of Technical Operations, as a Metering Manager you will be expected to motivate your team to provide a first-class customer service experience ensuring that performance goals and KPIs are met. You will be responsible for the overall delivery of YGP’s smart programme, ensuring targets are met.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • This role will be responsible for managing the SMART rollout and service performance with internal stakeholders from across the business.
  • In-depth understanding of Metering technical aspects of the energy industry
  • Ensure we are processing and managing Revenue Protection incidents.
  • Submission Of Industry Reporting (REC/BEIS/OFGEM)
  • Management Of DCC Adaptor Alerts & Exceptions
  • Implementation and Management Of DCC Gains/Firmware/Installation Processes among other.
  • Management of Smart Reads to Bills including AMR management via MOP/DC & MAM.
  • Implementation of metering policies and procedures, and best working practices to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Be an escalation point for other departments to resolve customer queries relating to metering.
  • Highlight and risks and issues relating to metering
  • Resolve cross-departmental and operational issues to maintain rollout performance.
  • Reporting and Industry Engagement
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business at all levels to ensure our service operates successfully for our customers.
  • Creation of internal plans, processes and regular KPI reporting.
  • Ensure we are chasing or work missing meter technical details from MOP/MAM
  • Liaising with other suppliers and third parties to resolve any queries or ongoing problems.
  • Ensuring that the performance of appointed agents is satisfactory to facilitate compliance.
  • Support internal and regulatory metering reporting as and when required.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A proven leader who can execute operational best practice to achieve service excellence.
  • 1 year’s metering experience
  • 1 years management experience
  • Strong Team Player
  • Strong knowledge around metering processes, including SMART
  • Contract Management experience
  • Ability to manage third party relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills, including creation of MI
  • Knowledge of the energy sector is required.
  • Working to tight timescales
  • Strong organization skills Excellent attention to detail and high standard of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, positive, resourceful, and resilient. A willingness to help.


  • Salary up to £30,000 dependent upon experience
  • Extensive private medical/optical/dental insurance made available to all employees following completion of probation;
  • Employee pension scheme with employer contribution
  • 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday
