How do I switch to YGP?

If you have a business and are planning on moving to a new energy provider, such as Yorkshire Gas and Power, then you need to know how do I switch to YGP?

While the differences between business and domestic energy are relatively minor, the online sign-up process is very quick and simple.

First, we need the address of the business that you want to supply to and your estimated annual consumption.

You can check this by looking at an old bill or by asking your old supplier.

You can also check your MPAN or MPRN for gas or electricity by looking at your previous bill. These numbers can help you keep track of your current energy usage.

What tariffs are available?

After giving us your usage details, we will then show you all the tariffs that are available to you, based on your specific needs. We also offer a variety of contract lengths and tariffs for electricity, gas and dual fuel.

We offer a variety of tariffs that are 100% renewable energy.  All of our electricity tariffs come with 100% renewable energy as standard.

At this stage, you can view a breakdown of each tariff, including the unit rate, standing charge, and monthly spend.

Contact your supplier

Before you sign up, make sure that you contact your current supplier to let them know that you’re interested in switching.

This will prevent them from objecting to the transfer, and it will allow us to complete the transfer.

If you’re still tied into a contract, we’ll give you the option of signing up and having your switch date extended up to 6 months in the future.

What happens next?

You will be sent a welcome pack which gives you all the details of your new tariff, including the start date and your rates.

If you want to change this date, just send us an email and we will advise on what we can do.

After transferring, we will ask to take an advance payment to cover your first month on supply. This is a method we use to offer our customers the best possible rates. It allows us to keep track of your usage and provide you with the most competitive prices.

The terms and conditions of your contract are also on the same page.

If you’re ready to switch over immediately, the process should take around 6 to 10 days for electricity and around 16-17 days for gas.

Before you officially switch over, we’ll send you an email to request a meter reading.

After you sign up, we will then send you monthly invoices, and we will then take payment for these through a monthly variable direct debit. We’ll also make sure that your meter readings are accurate wherever possible.

And it’s as easy as that!

If your business is looking for a competitive fixed price energy supply contract, we are here to help.
